Yes. What's wrong?

[There's a moment's pause before Bucky sends over a photograph. He's carefully standing so his face isn't visible to hopefully stop any "you're a movie character" moments, and just shows the left side of his torso. Aside from the scars from where his arm had to come off for frostbite, there are large gashes all down that side, especially deep around the scar tissue where his arm should be.]

Fell through some debris. Don't have any antiseptic, need advice for how to keep it from getting infected.

[He's not going to bother even trying something like stitches, he doesn't have any of the requisite tools for that.]

[Well, bloody hell. John obliges in actually switching to audio because that's concerning enough that he wants to be prompt in his replies.]

If you have soap and water, cleaning it out with that would be the next best thing. Water at the bare minimum. Don't use snow. Warm it up with your body heat if you have to. No rubbing, but small swipes or dabs are best. You don't want to make it rough or deepen the cut by accident. Do you have any glue? Or petroleum jelly? If you can, you'll want to cover the cut in that, then apply bandages over the whole thing.

[He sticks with text because there's less danger of being identified as a fictional character that way, even if it takes longer to respond than audio. He sends a new picture, just of the stump, to show the few wires and metal casings that hadn't been removed for how deeply embedded they are.]

I've got petroleum jelly, will if he safe to use on these areas too?

[If there's one area he's pretty ignorant in, it's medicine.]

They shouldn't do any harm to those. The wires you probably want to gather and keep out of the way somehow.

Okay. I'd still recommend bundling those and getting them out of the way or clipping them off if you don't think you'll be getting your prosthetic back. They're a hazard for catching on things or a potential weak point if someone takes it into their head to grab them and yank in a fight.

[That can't fail to remind him of John doing just that, tugging on his dead prosthetic in their fight to get an advantage. It worked, too, at least for a while.]

You're welcome. Please let me know if you start to experience any symptoms like a fever or the flu. That means there's been an infection. You're at serious risk of developing frostbite here in those, which it sounds like you've already dealt with. Please try to make sure you change your bandages or wash them out regularly. If you can get to a place with hot water to wash off, that'd be even better.

[This has so many echos of their past in it, but the situation is different now and he doesn't have frostbite. Having got the information he needs, and not wanting to over-expose himself and risk being identified, he simply hangs up.

Hopefully John will get his memory back soon, Bucky will keep an eye out to try and make sure he isn't in too much danger until then.]
