His deal is that he's just come off committing bloody suicide because a bastard turned almost every person in London against him--us. Sherlock is an arrogant arsehole who can't keep his mouth shut and has to show off to everyone because he doesn't know how to be any other way. And it terrifies people that he can read them, and it makes them jealous that he's very often the cleverest person in the room. Half the people at Scotland Yard we worked with and helped just called him 'The Freak.'

He's got problems, yeah. And there are reasons for them. Not excuses. Reasons. I know what they are. That's why I apologize for him.

Sorry for last night. I wasn't thinking very clearly. What I meant was that there were a number of circumstances that led up to what happened. Part of that was one of Sherlock's enemies using his attitude, his genius, and the way he acts to drag his name through the mud. The press bought it hook, line, and sinker. It caused us some problems. It contributed to what happened.
