I agree, but when I offered to help, he hung up on me. He's stubborn. I can deal with Clint and Tony for the moment.

Yeah, I think you might want to deal with Tony first. I sort of went off on him.

[redrooms]

Did you? Why?

[jumpthegun]

[Because he's a complete and utter arsehole, John thinks, but doesn't say.]

Because he implied Bucky doesn't have feelings, that I'm only looking out for a select group and screw the rest of you, and seems to think catching the Joker, who's currently running free around the area, is beneath him to assist in catching.

[redrooms]

[There's a slight delay before she replies.]

Tony can be an asshole.

[She loves him, but she's not going to deny it.]

He can also be very, very wrong. What did he say about the Joker?

That he's my problem, and assisting with him when I asked for the help would be equivalent to running errands for me.

[redrooms]

Clint and I certainly don't feel that way. If you need help, we'll help you, Watson.

[jumpthegun]

All I've got is Sheena right now. I'm trying to draw the Joker out, I don't know if he'll actually come. We caught him a couple of days ago, but he escaped when I went to do the blood transfusion on Bucky. Sherlock and Sylar left to go do experiments without mentioning, and Sheena had to go restock on food. She left the Joker tied up, but he was gone by the time she got back. He's around the area, and I think he was probably heading for the tunnels. Could try staking out the entrance building to them.

I dunno. With Batman dying he's probably going to be even more out of control.

[A pause.]

Bruce Wayne. That was Batman's real name. I dunno if the Joker actually knows it. But he'll find out sooner or later when Mr. Wayne doesn't turn up or respond to him.

[redrooms]

Heading for the eastern tunnels or the southern ones? We're near Kesara's tunnels at the moment.

[jumpthegun]

Eastern. Mr. Wayne's had him downtown up to recently. I'm just north of the chapel. We caught him near the convenience store on Day 187. Escaped on 188.

[redrooms]

I'll talk to Clint. We'll take care of it, even if Tony doesn't want to. I'd tell you that you shouldn't get involved, but I have a feeling you'll disagree with me.

Clint's told me now you've got two children with you, Ms. Romanov, I'd think it might be me telling you to hold off helping until you've dealt with that situation. I'm alone at the present. Well, I have Dr. Strange here, but he's moving on tomorrow.

I'm trying to set up a meeting with the Joker.

[redrooms]

What's your plan?

Corner him, get him down, kill him if I have to.

[Hope the Joker gives him a reason to kill him.]

[redrooms]

How are you planning on doing that? Do you have any weapons? Restraints?

[jumpthegun]

I have several weapons, five years of combat training, and a pair of handcuffs. I just need to get him down without going down with him, and it should be easy enough to knock him out.

[Provided everything goes smoothly.]

I was holding back last time because I didn't want to injure him too badly. I don't plan on making that mistake again.

[redrooms]

Training or not, I think you'll be at a disadvantage with only one working eye.

[jumpthegun]

[There's a delay in John's response as he quietly curses Clint and his mouth in what languages he knows.]

I'll figure it out.

[redrooms]

I don't like the idea of you doing this alone, Watson. I wouldn't want anyone to deal with the Joker by themselves.

[jumpthegun]

I don't like the idea of a couple of kids getting caught in the cross-fire. They should be the priority for you. I still don't even know if I'll be able to get the Joker to come. You and Clint should be together to protect them if you run into him by accident.

[redrooms]

Do you really think I'm going to drag children into this?

[jumpthegun]

No. I don't. Which is why I'll handle this particular encounter that I'm setting up. I'll give you the location when I've got it, and I'd like you and Clint on stand-by nearby if it goes poorly. I'd just like both of you with those kids when we don't know where the Joker is.

[redrooms]

We'll take care of them. I'm stating, officially, that I think this is a terrible idea and you shouldn't do it, and I'd better not see your name on the next obituary, but I don't have much hope of dissuading you.

[jumpthegun]

Your opinion has been officially filed away in the archives, for the record. I know how to fight, Nat. And I'm not wholly convinced he'll be turning up, anyway.

You're not sure, but there's a chance. You're at a disadvantage.
