[There's a momentary pause as John tries not to bristle. He knows Sylar didn't get that from him or Sherlock. Well, probably not from Sherlock.]

[ Sylar sounds quieter, more focused. ]

John, did Sherlock die when you came from? Did you go to Switzerland, or someplace called Reichenbach Falls?

[ This might color the current experiment. Sylar was going to make a rather pathetic attempt to stop Sherlock, but now he's wondering if he should actually try to hold him off. ]

[From his tone, it's probably easy enough for Sylar to deduce that the answer to at least the first question is 'yes.']

Oh, it's not. But I think you'll want to hear this. Because I don't think he actually died.

[ He lets that settle for a moment before continuing. ]

The stories I've read are clearly adaptations of your lives. They're written from your perspective, and the one in which Sherlock dies is called "The Final Problem." Except he didn't die. He returns a year or two later in disguise, chasing after one of Moriarty's surviving men.

He's not dead, John.

[There is complete silence on John's end for a long moment. When John speaks again, there's anger, very real anger.]

Don't. Don't you ever... Don't even. I watched him jump off a roof and onto the bloody pavement. I was there, talking to him, when he committed suicide. Do not ever talk to me about this again.

[He hangs up. And then throws his tablet at the wall.]
