[That's low, Alfie. Also effective. John bites his lip, glancing over at where Sherlock's lurking in the pharmacy.]

Dr. Suresh wasn't killed by an anomaly. He was murdered. You remember when Dr. Suresh first arrived and was talking about a dangerous man named Patient Zero? I think that's Mr. Taylor. He's a serial killer in his world. Sherlock doesn't think he'll kill again without a reason. Just make sure you don't do anything to give him a reason. I'm keeping an eye on him to make sure he doesn't try anything for now, at least.

[devoutish]

And what is a reason, to him?

[jumpthegun]

Probably telling everyone who and what he is. Threatening his position here? Sherlock didn't go into detail. But I'm gonna guess that's why Mr. Taylor murdered Dr. Suresh.

Mr. Taylor told me he'd behave, but he wasn't thrilled Sherlock had told me what he was.

[devoutish]

How do you feel about him? You, not Sherlock?

[jumpthegun]

I'm angry. I didn't see this at all. He seemed like a nice man; he's been nothing but helpful. He asked for my help when Dr. Suresh was hurt. I think that sort of acting? That's dangerous. Moriarty was able to fool a lot of people into thinking he was a harmless thing, even Sherlock at the start.

I can't tell what's an act for him.

[And that's frightening and paranoia-inducing.]

And Sherlock thinks what? He's a curiosity, a toy?

A tool. Sherlock doesn't do toys. If he's making use of someone like Mr. Taylor, there's a purpose to it. He used to have a network of people around London who helped him out for cases. Some are people he helped get off of charges, others are ones who've got particular skills he relies on. I think he wants to use Mr. Taylor like that. And Mr. Taylor seems eager for it.

I'd like to know his motivations. Whether he wants to leave, or whether he's like the Joker, only here to cause a little chaos.

[jumpthegun]

I plan on asking Mr. Taylor that myself when I get a moment alone with him.

[Sherlock will just tell him to stop posturing.]

I never liked serial killers.

[jumpthegun]

I never did, either. They usually get him excited, though.

[devoutish]

Because they're puzzles. That sounds an awful lot like being toys to me.

[jumpthegun]

It's not like that.

[It's exactly like that, and their first encounter with Moriarty's game had ended up in them rowing because of it.]

He gets serious when he needs to get serious. It's not just a game.

[devoutish]

I truly hope you're right, because none of this is a game to me.

[jumpthegun]

[It's a game to Sherlock. John knows it. 'The game is on.' But it's more than that, too.]

It's not a game for any of us, Alfie. It's probably why he wants to use Mr. Taylor. He'll figure out a way to make him useful so he can get us out of here. Sherlock wants that just the same as anyone else.

[devoutish]

I hope you're right, because I am very tired.

We all are. I'll let you know what I find out for Mr. Taylor when I can corner him.

How bad is it?

Worse than she pretends, I think.

I'm deciding between giving her NSAIDs and narcotics, Alfie. I need a little more specificity than that. If you had to guess on a scale of 1 to 10 where she's at, where would she fall? 1 being a mild soreness after running around too much, and 10 being intense and pervasive pain that prevents her from focusing on anything.
