Mm... Maybe once we get out, he could bring some of those stories back for Mercy. Found a book about princesses a little while ago. I can add it to your collection the next time we meet up. Didn't realize you were keeping a library.

What sorts of books do you like? I can keep an eye out. Maybe for some Tom Sawyer.

When I do read, when I have time - oh, I dunno, some history, I suppose. Tom Sawyer, yeah, I'd read that again.

History and adventure. Not a bad set. I think you'd like Tom Clancy. Popular novelist in my time who does sort of historical fiction. Real events, but fictional people in them. Most of his stuff is centered on the American military, but the Yanks have got the biggest one. What are you gonna do?

If you find some Clancy, send it over to me.

Will do. If you see spy thrillers, toss them my way. Love a good mystery or secret mission thing.

Mm, yeah. Have you got any favorite authors?

John le Carré and Ian Fleming. Michael Crichton's not quite in that vein, but he's got some good ones, as well. I haven't recognized any of the authors or names of people on anything I've picked up, though. Not sure you'll be able to find them, exactly, but maybe something similar.

Someone said they found some kind of romance novel a while back in one of the houses.

[John sounds deeply unimpressed by this.]

Yeah. Yeah, we've found those, too.

I think someone mentioned it seems like Eve's doing a lot of fanfiction of us. I'm starting to think they might be right.

[devoutish]

"Fanfiction".

[He doesn't know the term.]

It's like, if you like the characters in a story, you write about them in different scenarios or maybe in scenes that you think would have been good in the story, but the original author didn't write. You can do it with real people, as well, but it's considered creepy.

Sherlock and I had some of that when I was doing my blog. Internet celebrity, it's bound to happen. Sometimes it's flattering, but a lot of it turns into pornography.

Sort of. They left off when Sherlock faked his death. And after I stopped updating the blog when Mary... y'know?

Did they know about her?

Her obituary was in the papers. [Scrubbed of all real detail for national security reasons. Thank you, Mycroft Holmes.] I didn't post about it or anything.
